It’s almost 2026, and we’ve had some incredible breakthroughs in AI recently.
But it takes being a developer using these tools every day to realize how far behind we actually are.
⟡ Context & Memory are still severely lacking
⟡ Flagship models still hallucinate
⟡ Complex topics still break these systems
We have such a long way to go.
Is Software Engineering and Computer Science dying? No.
The number of software engineering jobs in 2025 actually grew.
This is the single best time in history to become a coder.
