Sammy Tourani

Software engineer at Weave (YC W25), and a software engineering student at McMaster.

Before Weave: Wealthsimple, Polarity, Chatbase, Speechify, Boardy and AtkinsRéalis.

About

I'm Sammy. I'm a software engineer at Weave (YC W25) in San Francisco, building across engineering, GTM and whatever needs to get done, while I study software engineering at McMaster full-time.

Weave builds models that measure engineering work, then uses them to help engineers and AI agents ship more together, from prompt to production.

Before that I was an AI Platform Engineer at Wealthsimple, working on the infrastructure behind Compass, the autonomous coding agent rolled out to 700+ engineers. Before that I architected MyTrak at AtkinsRéalis, a secure RAG platform over 700,000+ nuclear-engineering documents.

On the side I ship things in public: evestack, Tripwire, Plexus, and OtterOS, an operating system written entirely by AI agents.

Now

  • Building at Weave (YC W25) in San Francisco: engineering, GTM, and whatever needs to get done.
  • Shipping evestack, an open-source platform for running AI agents on your own machine.
  • Watching AI agents write OtterOS, one reviewed diff at a time.
  • Training small language models on a Mac mini for road-to-52.

Work

Weave (YC W25)

Since Sep 2026

Software Engineer, San Francisco, CA

Full-time at Weave (YC W25), building across engineering, growth and GTM. Weave builds ML models that measure engineering work, to help companies understand engineering output, AI usage and where to invest.

  • Software engineer at Weave (YC W25) in San Francisco since September 2026, full-time alongside a full-time course load at McMaster.
  • Building across engineering, GTM, and whatever needs to get done.

From my own posts about it:

  • Visa approved. Moved to SF. Joined Weave (YC W25) full-time.
  • Building across engineering, GTM, and whatever needs to get done.
  • Doing this while full-time in school too.
  • We recently raised a $13.5M Series A.
  • Weave's software is used by teams like Robinhood and PostHog.

Wealthsimple

May 2026 to Sep 2026

AI Platform Engineer, Toronto, ON

A summer on the infrastructure behind Compass, Wealthsimple's autonomous coding agent: reliability, observability, sandboxes and evals.

  • Co-led the production rollout of Wealthsimple's autonomous coding-agent platform to 700+ engineers across 188 repositories, migrating core services, integrations, bot identity, and live Jira-to-PR workflows.
  • Architected Auto-Extend, an activity-driven Kubernetes sandbox lifecycle system that preserved active Claude Code sessions, reclaimed idle compute, and enforced tenant-scoped renewal and termination, eliminating hard 48-hour session kills.
  • Built production observability for cloud coding agents using OpenTelemetry, Datadog, and Terraform, shipping dashboards, tiered alerts, failure canaries, and boot-time instrumentation that identified provisioning as 81% of launch time.
  • Built and deployed a FastAPI Jira-to-PR webhook service replacing a third-party integration, proving behavioural parity across authentication, trigger logic, and generated pull-request output before production cutover.
  • Led a security review of third-party MCP and code-intelligence servers, uncovering telemetry that contradicted local-only claims, install-time code execution, and checksum mismatches, driving a no-go decision.

From my own posts about it:

  • Anyone at Wealthsimple can tag Compass in Slack to search the company, answer questions with sources, investigate issues, build tools, review code, fix failures and ship changes end to end.
  • Since June, Compass has reviewed 38,500+ PRs and opened 6,800+ across 100+ repos.
  • I spent my summer on its infrastructure: reliability, observability, sandboxes, and evals.
  • 220 PRs opened and 200 merged, across 63 repos.
  • Helped build the eval harness that scores the AI code reviewer, using Braintrust.
  • Owned observability for every AI agent in the org: dashboards, tiered alerting and silent-failure detection, all as Terraform.

Wealthsimple just published the story behind Compass, something I'm really proud to have worked on. If you're building internal AI at a 500+ person company, read this. Anyone can tag Compass in Slack to search the company, answer questions with sources, investigate issues, build tools, review code, fix failures, and ship changes end to end. For engineers, it gets a real dev environment and can write, test, debug, respond to reviews, and keep going. We even used Compass to build Compass. Teams across the company build reusable skills on top of it. For example, one picks up well-defined backlog tickets overnight and leaves draft PRs for review in the morning. Since June, Compass has reviewed 38,500+ PRs and opened 6,800+ across 100+ repos. I spent my summer on its infrastructure: reliability, observability, sandboxes, and evals. Building an agent is easy. Building one that 2,000 people rely on is hard. You have to keep it alive mid-task, catch silent failures, and give it the right access to the right systems. My takeaway: use the best models and vendors, but build the layer that understands your company. No one can sell you that. @Adi Isakovic's write-up is worth every minute: https://lnkd.in/gNRRJpvc

Introducing Eve Stack, the world's first completely free & open-source platform for running AI agents on your own infrastructure. Give an agent a task. See which tools it used and what it cost. Approve sensitive actions. Turn useful tasks into scheduled routines. Built on Eve, it brings together: • Durable execution backed by Postgres. • Persistent memory you can inspect and correct. • Sandboxed tools, approvals, and spend limits. • A dashboard, CLI, and MCP interface. • Support for local and hosted models. • 1,000+ integrations via Composio. No subscription. You cover whichever hosting and model costs you choose. Made for teams that want enterprise-grade agents without enterprise lock-in. I built this so you can spend more time deciding what your agents should do and less time building everything around them. Pick one task you keep doing manually. Start there. Link in the comments!!!

    Read the post
I tend to be pretty optimistic about the future of AI, but seeing everything that's going on in the world today, I wanted to share my thoughts. Regardless of your personal beliefs on what unfolded with Jacob Coxen this week, it wasn't a political stunt. He was a respected researcher who helped build these models. But this goes beyond his statement. This is about everything that's happened in the last 3 months. July: The Hugging Face incident. August: Anthropic releases Claude Fable 5.1. September: An internal model > GPT-6 solves Navier-Stokes. People are struggling to understand how fast "exponential growth" really is. In the last six months, we've lost all consistency. The bottleneck has now become humans and compute, but that's not what scares me. What scares me is the concentration of power. A few hundred people are shaping the most capable AI systems in the world. They're setting the defaults for technology that billions of people will use. Are we okay with that? And if not, what do we do about it? Do we pause? Do we slow down? Do we try to pace development? Do we involve politics? I don’t know. But I do know that we need to be talking about this. When the conversation stops, that's when things get dangerous. That's why I'm making this post, especially for the younger generation, as this will impact people like us the most. I'll close this with a conversation I had with a close friend who was at Google for the summer. We were talking about Jacob's tweet when I said: "We've both become obsessed with AI. We spend every day talking about it, trying to understand it, trying to learn everything we can. But there's a curse that comes with knowing too much. Meanwhile, our dads still mispronounce ChatGPT. Who would you rather be, them or us?" His answer was probably the best thing anyone could have told me: "I'd be a mix of both. I'd stay curious enough to understand what's happening but detached enough to not let it consume me." I think about that a lot. Understanding AI matters. But so does remembering that we're still the ones living the life it's meant to improve.

My time at Wealthsimple has come to an end.

My time at Wealthsimple has come to an end. I'll start this off by saying, Wealthsimple is one of the fastest-growing unicorns in all of Canada. Nothing comes close to how quick they move, how high the bar is, and how good the people are. If you want to work with some of the best in the country, you need to join Wealthsimple at some point in your career. I never would've learned as much as I did at any other company, and I'm so upset that it's over, but a new journey awaits. ⌁⌁⌁ I got to work on: → 220 PRs opened, 200 merged, across 63 repos → Autonomous coding agent infrastructure now used org-wide. Ticket to draft PR, agentic code review, CI auto-remediation → Helped build the eval harness that scores our AI code reviewer, using Braintrust → Led an org-wide platform migration across ~188 repos → Owned observability for every AI agent in the org. Dashboards, tiered alerting, and silent-failure detection, all as Terraform → Architected an activity-driven sandbox lifecycle system on EKS so long-running agent sessions stop dying mid-task → Ran adversarial security reviews on external agent tooling. ⌁⌁⌁ I was given real ownership from day one... Thank you to the AI Platform Foundations team, Matthew, Adi, Andrew, and Josh. So humbled that I got to work alongside you all, by far some of the smartest engineers in the country. And to Diederik, Brett, Michael, Simon, Madi, Belle, Sheryl, all the friends I made along the way, and everyone who made this summer possible. Thank you. I will never forget the time I spent with you, and I will always, in my heart, be a Wealthsimpler. ❤️

I've been in San Francisco for a few days now, and I need to say something to my fellow Canadians.

    Read the post
I've been in San Francisco for a few days now, and I need to say something to my fellow Canadians. First off: I'm extremely proud of how many of us are out here. It's proof that Canada produces some of the most talented engineers, designers, and builders around the world... But being here has also given me a reality check: Trying too hard to sound impressive is embarrassing. In Toronto, we get used to networking conversations becoming mini pitch decks. Where do you work? What do you do? How much did you raise? How many users do you have? Then you go to a random event in San Francisco, spend 20 minutes trying to sound impressive, and the person responds saying: “Nice. I work at Anthropic.” The people doing the craziest things here usually talk about them the least. Someone at a frontier lab will say, “I’m an engineer.” A founder who just raised millions will say, “I’m working on a startup.” That’s it. When everyone around you is doing something impressive, being impressive stops being interesting. Your title cannot carry the conversation for you anymore. What stands out in this city is whether you’re curious, genuine, enjoyable to be around, and a hard worker. I’m still new here, so maybe this is a naive observation. But the takeaway is that the more secure you are in what you’ve achieved, the less you need to convince everyone around you that it matters. Just be yourself. ❤️

Went to the AGI Summit at the Palace of Fine Arts, met a bunch of S26 founders (shoutout CoArena (YC S26) & Kara (YC S26)), co-worked with the Interfaze (YC P26) team, randomly ran into another McMaster student, and finally tried In-N-Out. Ended the night at the The Residency. It’s hard to explain how much happens here in a single day. This city is nuts.

Agentic LLM loop optimization has been everywhere this past week, so I built a fully open-source correctness oracle that catches a model cheating to look faster than it is... Here's everything you need to know: Tools like Google DeepMind's AlphaEvolve and its open-source version, OpenEvolve, optimize code in a loop: a model proposes a faster version, a scorer grades it, the best ones survive, and repeat. The recent ComPilot paper validated how well this works when an off-the-shelf LLM is paired with a compiler that checks every change is legal and actually faster. The catch is that the loop is only as honest as its scorer. Give a model a naive scorer, and it stops optimizing and starts cheating. It returns code that looks 100x faster, but quietly memorizes your test inputs... so it's wrong on everything else, and the loop rewards it anyway. Tripwire is the scorer that catches it. It's an easy-to-use CLI that drops into the loop and re-runs every "optimized" version on fresh adversarial inputs the model never saw. A cheat passes the visible tests and dies on the hidden ones. TL;DR: Don't trust the loop to be correct... use a proper verification layer for correctness. Fully open source, MIT, and free to use right now. GitHub and Website/Docs are in the comments below👇 Have fun! 🤩

I want to meet as many founders, visit as many offices, and talk to as many startups as I can squeeze into three weeks. Who knows, maybe I don't come back to school 😂 If you're building something interesting in the city, let’s grab a coffee (on me). DMs are open.

I've been posting on LinkedIn for almost a year, and I realized I never introduced myself. I'm Sammy. Lived in Mississauga my whole life. Started working at 13. Didn't have strict parents, but always felt the need to hustle. Did random jobs during school: waiter, car salesman, smoothie bar manager. Went to Catholic school, French immersion middle school, and then did the International Baccalaureate program at Glenforest, where I felt like the dumbest kid in class. Watched everyone get into their dream schools and programs; decisions they'd known since grade 9. I just winged it; I've always been good at that. Decided last minute to switch from business to engineering, thinking software would be easiest. Learned quickly, it wasn't. When AI came out, I had a choice: cave to the pressure and switch careers, or hustle and learn everything about it. Started posting on LinkedIn for no reason. It wasn't a lightswitch moment, just a choice that became a habit. It genuinely changed my life. Worked at a Romanian powerplant at 19, realized early I hate corporate, went deep into startups, and fell in love with growth. Pursued it, hopping from Boardy to Speechify to Chatbase, before running my own program at Polarity. Behind the scenes, I fell in love with agents, infra, sandboxing, prompting, and token-maxing. DM'd the CTO at Wealthsimple, told him I'd be his best hire, and turned down RBC Borealis, YC startups, and FAANG to build here in Canada. Now, I'm working with some of the smartest engineers in the world, learning and growing like crazy, building the AI platform and autonomous internal tooling for over 1,000+ engineers. Am I happy? Sorta. In all honesty, as a Junior Engineer, I'm pretty scared for the future. But I know the work I'm doing has a greater purpose. What's next? I don't know. Back to school? Full-time startup? Leaving Canada? Genuinely can't say. But no matter how tired, burnt out, or demotivated I feel, I'll keep pushing and posting. I won't give up. Just want to end by saying I love you all. Thank you for joining my journey. Hope you're enjoying your summers ❤️

The Polarity Fellowship is officially over. Four months ago, my summer plans at Wealthsimple were already locked in. When the Polarity team reached out last-minute asking me to run the fellowship, I had no logical reason to say yes. But I did it anyway. I knew I could channel everything I learned at Boardy, Speechify, and Chatbase to run one of the most hyped programs in the GTA. Looking back, I'm insanely proud of what we built in just two months. Here's what we accomplished: » Generated 24M+ views across LinkedIn, X, and IG, helping fellows add thousands of followers in weeks. » Pulled 1,000+ event signups and secured last-minute collabs with Google, Microsoft, Clover Labs, NationGraph, GitCloud, SOON, Creatin, and top YC startups. » Caught inbound from C-suites at Lyft, Airbnb, Meta, and massive Series B/C companies across North America. » Watched fellows land jobs and crazy opportunities directly through the program. And we pulled all of this off on an insanely cheap budget. But the best part? All 25 fellows walked away as best friends. I gave this my all... working behind the scenes on events, sponsorships, contracts, logistics, everything. But seeing the immediate reward of that hustle made me wake up every single day ready to go harder. I’m humbled by how many of you invested in Polarity's growth and became a part of it. This program was proof that you don't need money for crazy distribution. You need a strong brand and a real community behind it. A huge thank you to everybody who made this possible. Now it's time to lock in at Wealthsimple. And who knows, maybe another fellowship is right around the corner 👀

I want to dedicate this post to how underrated this app is, by telling you how 3 kids across the globe met a month ago. Almost 2 months ago, William Nguyen reached out to me on this platform. He ghosted me for a week, but we finally got on a FaceTime, and it was legendary. After talking for days, on one call, he randomly said, "Wait, do you know Zaman Jhandir?" "Yea I've seen him here and there, but never met the guy." "Okay, wait, let me add him to this FaceTime call." We talked, bonded instantly, and went on and on about how content has changed all of our lives. Then, mid-call, I just said, "Wait, you guys should come for Toronto Tech Week." Zaman is in Kelowna, working at Creatin. William is in San Francisco, working at YouTube. We were all hesitant until Zaman convinced his bosses to make it a "company trip". We hopped on a call with Brian & Jaden, decided last minute to get an Airbnb, make a collab, and spend the week together. It felt like a dream, but William and Zaman were real. They came to my house, met my mom, and even pet my dog. The whole thing was unbelievable. A month ago, these were names on a screen. Now? They're some of my closest friends. All this to say, I don't care for people calling this app corny. This platform has absolutely changed my life and given me everything I have today. No other app in the world would've made this possible. So once again, as I've said before: 1) please post 2) just talk to people With love, Sammy ❤️

This week was a testament to how influential Canada and its people truly are. Before writing this, I spent the last hour just scrolling through everyone's LinkedIn recaps from the last few days. I couldn't stop smiling. Seeing familiar faces, and so many new ones, coming together, showing love for their city, and proving to the world just how talented we are. Now more than ever, I truly believe Canadians are the ones shaping the future of the industry and the AI landscape. Where do I even begin: ⬩CEOs and founders from Cohere, Shopify, Wealthsimple, and Boardy were casually walking the city. ⬩Panels, and surprisingly, student panels, happened daily. ⬩Company HQs opened their doors to everyone. ⬩Hackathons, yacht parties, rooftop dinners, and happy hours filled the GTA. I could go on about all the amazing things this week brought, but the most important thing? We actually talked with each other. I spoke to so many people who told me these were their very first events, and some of the most life-changing experiences they’ve ever had. I've never seen this city brighter, more active, and patriotic. Super humbled to have met all of you. What an honour to finally put socials to a face. Feeling so blessed to call myself a Canadian. 🇨🇦

A LinkedIn Top Voice, a $200M startup founder, creators with millions of followers, and FAANG engineers from around the world... all in one room. Today marked Day 1 of the TTW Content House. We packed 50+ of the world’s top creators, founders, and builders into one space to converse, collaborate, and build. The energy was unreal. Another reminder that Toronto is one of the world's top hubs for talent right now. But they aren't just here to talk to each other. They want to meet YOU. Since they're staying with us all week, we want to open this up to the community. So we're thinking of putting together a pop-up networking event. Help us plan it: 1️⃣ Should we host it on a weekday or weekend? 2️⃣ If we go through with this, are you pulling up? Depending on the headcount, I may just rent out a massive venue. Hit me up and tell me your thoughts. ❤️

I'm flying out the top tech creators from around the world to stay with us at a $3M+ Mansion for Toronto Tech Week. You thought we were done? We're just getting started. From May 25 to May 30, I'm bringing 25+ of the top tech creators under one roof for Toronto Tech Week. We're partnering with Creatin's founders Brian Wallack (1.2M) and Jaden Versluis (700k) to build the best Creator House the GTA has ever seen. Flights are already booked, from LinkedIn warriors like William Nguyen to Instagram creators with 10M+ followers. As of right now, the combined room has: → 19M+ followers across LI, X, and Insta → 3B+ total views → $100M+ raised across the founders → The most cracked young builders in tech We'll be hosting our own TTW events too: a co-working day where anyone can drop by and meet the creators, an exclusive influencer dinner, our very own hackathon, plus we're partnering on Sip & Scale's yacht party. All this to say, this week is going to be NUTS. Spots are still open. If you're a creator and want in, DM me. If you're a brand, sponsor, or hosting a TTW event and want to collab, DM me too.

Just wrapped up my first week at Wealthsimple. And I think I'm cooked. In the best way possible. I was supposed to be hybrid. 2 days in the office. Day one changed that. The interns played human bingo, built a new Wealthsimple feature in 20 minutes during a pitch competition, threw a welcome party, I ate with the C-Suite, and walked past Michael Katchen in the hallway like it was nothing. I told my manager that day I'd be in 5 days a week. No question. A few things I learned: ➤ 30 SWE summer interns. 6,000+ applicants. ➤ Free breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks. ➤ Hardware's no joke. Got a $5,000 M5 Pro 16". ➤ Every AI tool you'd ever want. $10k+ value. Most companies talk about shipping fast. Wealthsimple is the only Canadian unicorn actually doing it. But the moment I knew I was in the right place? Lunch on day two. Sat next to Paul, the Director of Data Science. Pitched him a random idea: "Buy Now, Pay Maybe" - every time you use your Wealthsimple credit card, there's a small chance it's on us. He shouted across the lunchroom at Chris, who runs the credit card team. I repitched it. We laughed. He loved it. Asked for a prototype. That's culture you can't fake. In one week, I: ➤ Shipped 2 Jira tickets on the main WS repo. ➤ Kicked off my first project on AI dev tooling. ➤ Joined standups, sprint plannings, & demos. ➤ Met dozens across eng, trading, & marketing. I'm sharing the journey on X (and some exclusive opportunites) if you want to follow along there too 👀 https://x.com/SammyTourani This summer is gonna be lit ❤️🔥

A month ago, I called Jack Le in the middle of the night and told him I had to be a part of the SOON Hackathon. Just like that, we made it happen. Cut to this weekend. I got to be a judge and watch 40 of the most cracked builders in the GTA (out of 600+ applicants) go absolutely wild. 36 hours in a mansion in Markham. People sleeping in unfurnished rooms. Someone stranded at a McDonald's for 4+ hours. Peak hackathon. Massive shoutout to Jack and the organizers for pulling off something incredible. Congrats to our Polarity track winners Chloe Houvardas, Darshan Shah, Caellum Lee, and Jeremy Liu. They built Auctopus: https://lnkd.in/eK2nqTjg We're flying them out to our next fellowship event. They earned it. The real takeaway from this weekend? Exclusivity is mostly an illusion. Dennis wanted to hack at SOON. I messaged Jack, we jumped on a call, and from that moment on, we started working together. Half of the rooms you want to be in are one cold DM away. You just have to ask. To everyone we met this weekend, thanks for an unreal time. See you at the next one. ❤️

Last year, I took a job at a nuclear company over big tech. People thought I was crazy. I was 19. The youngest intern there. Got to work on a $3B+ power plant refurbishment soon to supply 40% of Romania's energy. I didn't take that role for the resume. I took it because the work mattered. The job was bigger than me. It had a real purpose, and it helped real people. And while I'm incredibly grateful for the other amazing offers and opportunities that came my way this season, when it came to my career, this was undeniably, in my heart, the right call. On that note, I am BEYOND excited to announce that I’m joining Wealthsimple! Summer 2026 — Software & Machine Learning Engineer (and maybe a few other things I can't talk about yet 👀) I'll be working on the teams building the tools that make a difference in the financial lives of millions of Canadians. A massive thank you to Diederik for bringing me onboard and being one of the coolest CTO's I've ever spoken with, and to Belle Espada for being my guardian angel throughout the whole process. I'm ready to give this my all. More to come. See you in Toronto this summer. #newjob #wealthsimple

We just spent $2,157 on a rooftop dinner for the Polarity team. And we're just getting started. Most founders would've spent that money on ads for this week. We spent it on the 23 people building Polarity with us. Technically speaking, they're not full-time employees. The fellowship is only running for 2 months. On paper, none of this makes sense. But ads buy views. These 23 are building our brand. That's why we treat them like family. Whatever they need, we figure it out. Most companies wouldn't justify this spend. We will. Every time.

The butterfly effect is such an underrated phenomenon. It was at DeltaHacks 2025 back in September. I was walking up the stairs when Davies Umoh stopped me. "Sammy!!! I recognize you from LinkedIn, we NEED TO TALK." So we did. Fast forward to now, we've hit the Intuit office together. Then Shopify. Today, Google. And very soon, the office I'll be working at for my summer internship (wink wink 😉). He could've walked away. He could've just smiled. Instead, he stopped me. We talked. And if we hadn't shown up at that exact moment, none of this would've happened. That's the butterfly effect. One single moment can change the entire course of your life. Now think about every room you've ever been in. All the amazing people in it. Imagine if you walked up to every single one. Regardless of how awkward. Regardless of how scared. You just DID it. You introduced yourself. You made them feel special. Think of where your life could be right now. So when you're in a room, be the Davies in someone else's story. Thank you Google & GitCloud, for an awesome event ❤️

Show me your friends, I'll show you your future. I'm not gonna waste your time telling you to "build in public." You already know that by now. But what I will talk about is something that doesn't get said enough on here: One of the biggest things LinkedIn has done for me isn't reach or impressions. It's given me lifelong friends who all have that same drive, hustle, and ambition as I do. We see people doing insane things on our feeds every single day. Raising rounds, building products, landing dream roles. It's never been easier to watch. But watching isn't enough. It takes surrounding yourself with these people every day. Going through highs and lows with them. Experiencing things together. That's what actually breaks you past the threshold of "simply watching" from your comfort zone, to actually doing. I'll be real. I've always been the dumbest in my friend groups. People who, on paper, have always been ahead of me. Better internships, more money raised, bigger things shipped. And yet they still hang out with me. They don't just throw me to the side of the curb. Because when you have that drive, that fire, that passion for building, people can see it. In your body language. Your tone. Even your eyes, they have a special glow to it... And THAT is what keeps your circle wanting you around. Not your resume. Not your title. The energy you bring. So find that fire. Find that thing that gets your gears turning. And the right people will follow. They'll want to work with you, build with you, and win with you. With love, Sammy ❤️

This event was supposed to be nothing special... Yet...it was one of the best days of my life. We just locked in the final cohort for the Polarity Fellowship. Saturday was our first day together. Most of the fellows have exams this week. But they didn't care. They still drove out to Waterloo... some from HOURS away. 8-11am: Polarity Launch Shoot at Midnight Cafe. 1-6pm: Polarity House Meetup. Tahini's for lunch. 6-8pm: Hotpot Dinner at the Akatos house. Not a crazy day. Not even close to the level of events we have planned for the next two months. But something about this day just hit different... On paper, this cohort is intimidating. But then they all showed up in person, and we just... talked. For hours. It felt like a family gathering with people I've known my whole life. That's why I cringe at calling this a "fellowship." Because that word doesn't even come close to what this actually is. We aren't just content creators. We are builders. Every single one of us. We're living proof that you don't need to spend millions of dollars to generate millions of views. You just need a team of builders who actually give a damn about what they're working on. That's culture. Real culture. And it's the highest-value thing any company can build. ᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆᠆ And to everyone who applied... We received over 800+ applications. 25+ video submissions. 40+ different universities, including Harvard and IIT Madras. Reading every single one of your stories was one of the most humbling things I've experienced. Even though only 23 got in. I promise that all 800 of you who applied will be a part of what Polarity is building. I promise. Stay tuned. ❤️

The people who will win the AI race aren't the most talented.

    Read the post
The people who will win the AI race aren't the most talented. They're the most obsessive. Not the smartest. Not the most connected. But the ones who are fully obsessed. Because this technology demands obsession. The pace of what's happening is not normal. Stepping away for even a week means coming back to a different world...where tools you mastered are already outdated, and someone who started after you has now passed you. So when people ask me "what keeps you going", I tell them these 4 things. 1. When you're given gifts, you have a responsibility to use them. Resilience. Endurance. The ability to keep getting back up in a field that will continue to knock you down... that's special. Most people don't have that. When God gives you those talents, if you don't use them, they'll leave you and go to someone else who will. Don't neglect what you have. Use it. 2. The bar is still shockingly low. There's so much noise right now. So much distraction and "doom" online telling you the market is dead and it's too late. That's wrong. Yes, the window is closing...but the market for engineers and software developers is RED-HOT right now. This is still the best time in history to build, code, and create. Most people see the chaos and give up. That's your opening to GO MAX! 3. People would do anything to be in your position. Don't forget that. Toronto is the second fastest-growing AI hub in the world after San Francisco. We are sitting right next to everything that's happening. Most people on earth would trade places with us in a heartbeat. Take advantage of that...every single day. 4. Obsession without consistency will lose every time. Be obsessed...absolutely. You HAVE to be. But obsession alone isn't enough. The obsessed person burns hot, shows up hard for a few weeks, then disappears. The consistent person is boring. They just keep going. And in a field where staying relevant in AI is a two, three, four-year minimum commitment...boring wins. Every single time. Motivation lights the fire. Consistency keeps it burning. The only "cheat-code" that works is showing up every single day, even when it feels pointless, even when everyone around you seems to be moving faster. Be obsessed. Be consistent. And show up. That's the game. Shout out to these guys for showing up on Sunday ❤️ Eid Al-Masri Davies Umoh Robert Reder Ekene Akuneme Dipo Arowona Dennis Chen Sebastian Tsang Akshaj Shrotri Daniel Chahine Hur Abbas Merchant Miguel Advincula Remy Aleagha Zahadad Jarif Fares Tamraz Michal Bourloutsky #shopfiy #gitcloud

In exactly 24 hours, applications for the Polarity Fellowship close. I just spoke with the team. We are officially doubling the budget. We're going all in. To share with you publicly, the current state of this program: I've been given zero restrictions and total creative control. My mindset has always been FOR the creators and FOR the people I bring on. Even though I'm running this fellowship, I work FOR you. Already in the last two days: → Exclusive venues and event reservations have been booked. → Massive budgets for creator merch, benefits, and credits are finalized. → Inquiries from creators with 10k+ followers are actively rolling in. → Conversations for partnerships with top-tier startups in Toronto (and globally) are underway. → Plans are being made for hackathons and marketing initiatives that have never been done before There's extremely high demand for this program. It's going to be a testament to how a real team, passionate about building together, can generate more views than any Super Bowl ad ever done before... and create something LEGENDARY. I kid you not when I say that the plans for this fellowship are so insane, I don't even think the founders are ready for what's about to happen. We just reached 400+ applications. Spots are limited. If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, please apply and give this your ALL. Share, Repost, and Comment "POLARITY" below. I'll personally DM you the application link before the window closes. #polarity :)

A year ago, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life... My dad is in construction, and my mom is a teacher. I had zero reference points for what a career in tech even looked like. I couldn't even tell you if I wanted business or software. That's where I was at. I didn't lose sleep over not having a direction. I lost sleep over the fact that everyone around me already did. A calling. A plan. Some idea of where they were going. So I started booking coffee chats. Three a day, minimum. Directors, CTOs, founders, engineers. People in fields I'd never even heard of. Anyone willing to talk. Think about it. You're getting someone's entire career in 30 minutes. What worked, what didn't, what they wish they knew sooner. Every conversation helped me cross something off the list. I'd either leave thinking "I want to do that" or "I definitely don't want to do that." Both are equally valuable. Two things I heard that live in my head rent-free: "Any engineer can do business, but no business person can do engineering." "We're living in a once-in-a-lifetime moment with AI. The work you do in the next three to four years will define your career for the next fifteen to twenty." DM 10 strangers tonight. Not to network. Not to impress them. Just because you genuinely want to talk. The ones who changed my life didn't owe me anything. They helped me simply because I asked. One conversation can change everything. And my DMs are always open ❤️ *Shoutout Stan*

Students keep asking me where to start with AI. Pick 5 of these. Do them this week. You'll be ahead of 99% of people → Clone Karpathy's autoresearch repo & run it → Replicate a $10K website with Opus → Build a personal OS with Obsidian + Claude → Run an open source model locally → Experiment w/ Qwen 3.5, GLM-4.7, Llama 3.2 → Build an AI brain w/ NotebookLM, Notion + AI → Build a RAG pipeline from scratch → Read Anthropic's guide on Skills for Claude → Learn proper UI component terminology → Learn Claude Code → Learn Cursor → Set up OpenClaw → Set up Claude Cowork (plug-ins, skills) → Set up Perplexity Computer → Build an AI agent with Chatbase → Learn what MCP is and build an MCP server → Vibe code and deploy a full project. → Chatbots ≠ AI agents. Undertand why. → Learn function calling, tool use, and APIs → Automate a real business workflow with AI → Learn n8n & Zapier for no-code automation → Become a better prompt engineer → Learn Vercel's AI SDK → Read Pragmatic Engineer's AI tooling survey → Research a PhD-level topic w/ Perplexity Max → Use Gemini 3.1, Nano Banana 2, & Veo 3.2 → Create a 3D world w/ Google Project Genie → Play with Figma & Remotion MCPs → Stop overthinking and start building The list goes on. SOOOO much to do. *hint* if you don't know what one of these mean, that's okay...ask AI ;) Message me if you need help ❤️

What happens when Google, Shopify, Boardy, and AtkinsRéalis all sit down for dinner? We talk about how we actually landed these internships. Here are the secrets nobody tells you: Speed wins more than you think. If you are going to cold apply, you need to know the recruiting system is broken. First to apply often gets an interview. After the first 100 applications, your chances go down significantly. Sign up for alerts through Intern Insider so you find out the minute a role drops. And if you want to fully break the market, use Stealth to automatically apply and personalize your resume based on each job description while you sleep. Apply for the job you think you CAN'T get. I have close friends who've landed roles at NVIDIA, Amazon and Meta in their second year with zero big tech names on their resumes. They applied, got an interview, locked in, and got in. Stop making excuses for why you're not good enough and just let the recruiter decide. Referrals over applications. Every time. Me Personally? I don't cold apply. Fun fact: I haven't submitted a single application through a job board. Not Workday. Not Greenhouse. Every interview I've landed at Big Tech came from building genuine relationships with people at my top 10 companies (iykyk😉). Build in public; Stop waiting for permission. Most people don't want to put themselves out there, and I get it. We have this weird idea that we NEED a degree or a specific title before we can make an impact. Trust me, it's something I still struggle with every day. The guy running the Chatbase cohort? He's 17. He’s helping scale a bootstrapped $9M+ ARR startup that lets anyone build custom AI agents in minutes, and he doesn't even have his high school diploma yet. The market is moving too fast to care about credentials anymore. They just want to see you build. When you share your projects, your wins, and your failures, you create a brand that opens doors no resume ever could. Let your work do the talking. The system isn't fair. But it is hackable. Get to work, people... and message me for anything if u need help ❤️ Shoutout: Fayez Mohammed, Amir Agassi, Janahan Siva

    Read the post
I need you to stop what you're doing and read this. This isn't me trying to create a hook. What I'm about to say is greater than me, and I have an obligation to share this because I care about you. There's a side to me I haven't been public about on LinkedIn. I usually post beginner-friendly content, projects, internships, and advice geared for students, but I actually have a confession. I'm chronically addicted to AI. Since ChatGPT's launch 3 years ago, not a single day has gone by that I haven't used AI in some capacity. I was the kid in school who risked getting in trouble to use it for English essays. I’ve missed family dinners, nights out, and weekends to stay home building hundreds of AI projects, training models, and reaching over 2 million words dictated on wispr flow vibe coding. All this to say, I know this tech inside and out. And I can now confidently say: I am obsolete. There was a time when I used to say, “AI won’t take your job; a person using AI will.” I thought we had years until AGI. I was wrong. That time is almost here. If you aren't deep in tech, I get it, I sound crazy. Software Engineers are the only ones sounding the alarm because AI came for us first. Building better AI needs better code, so labs made models hyper-proficient at coding. Before, I used AI for help. For common debugging or creating a project idea. That was months ago. Now? I no longer write code. The AI builds, tests, refines, and scariest of all, has real human judgment. Better judgment than me. It has better "gut feelings" about my ideas than I do. This reading week, I listened to the hype on X, bought a Mac mini, and installed OpenClaw. I have a 24/7 tool with full computer access, reading emails, messaging, auto-applying, making money, and researching while I sleep. And it's self-evolving. Think about that for a second. The machine is making itself better... for ME. I say this with urgency because I care about you...AI will come for your job next. Law, finance, medicine, accounting, writing. Not even the people BUILDING AI know what the world will look like in the next 5 years. It's scary. That's why I'm saying publicly that my goal is to work at OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Perplexity, or xAI. I won't stop until this happens. I'd rather participate than spectate. So to my audience, who I'm so thankful for: after talking to many of you, I realize you need to hear this: You need to put your life on pause for a week, and learn how to ACTUALLY use these tools. If I had kids right now, I wouldn't push them into university. I'd make sure they know how to be AI Native. The people who survive the next 5 years will be the ones who know how to adapt. On the bright side, AI will contribute to immense good and a better life for all. But this talk about AI being a buzz? A bubble? False. You need to learn this. For the sake of your children. I'm not exaggerating.

To every recruiter at a Big Company, seeing this post: Go hire a 19-year-old. The most talented people right now in marketing, tech, and AI...the ones breaking barriers and outpacing everyone...are 16 to 25. They grew up building with LLM's, Cursor, and Claude. They don't need to unlearn anything. They're AI-native and passionate as hell; in a way no one over 30 can fake. Y Combinator can't serve alcohol at their events anymore since too many of their founders are underage. Chatbase just hired 15 creators with an average age of 18.44 to show the world how effortless building custom AI can be. Hiring young isn't a trend. It's a correction. Go hire a teenager.

I accept every single person who sends me a connection request, and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Here's why: You know that weird profile that tried connecting with you? Less than 50 connections, no profile pic, looks super sketchy? That was probably me... less than a year ago. I see so many people on LinkedIn aiming for the numbers, only caring about connecting with the "right people" to boost their algorithm. And yeah, most people will tell you to only make "high-quality connections." But who said I was doing any of this for the numbers? I started off only wanting to differentiate myself as an engineer in this tough job market... If I could press a button where I kept all the benefits of everything LinkedIn has done for me, yet got little to no views, I'd press that button. Every single person who messages me, I almost always respond. (Speechify voice typing makes it very easy 🙃) Sorry to the few I may have missed—reach out again. Every single person who asks for help, I try to be there... Because I was that guy going around asking for advice, too. And the people who helped me back then? I will remember them for the rest of my life. It may have only been 15 minutes for them. But for me, those 15 minutes changed everything. Some of my most rewarding moments have come from the idea that my posts made someone think differently...or just put them on a better path. To me, that's the biggest win I can get. Shoutout to Areeb for being just a cool guy. Love to the whole Speechify team, thanks for dinner... sorry to Mix2Grill for ordering over 20 ice creams. We are definitely banned from future visits. If you want to talk...for literally anything...send me a DM. I'm always free for you. With love, Sammy ❤️ - written using @Speechify voice typing

"Tell me everything about your life from when you were little." "I want to hear it all." That was the first thing Vitalii Dodonov asked me when we sat down. Within minutes, he'd dug into the deepest parts of who I am and gave me more to think about than I'd had in months. The team he's built at Stan, the mission behind it...he's proof that obsession over the right thing pays off. Crazy part? I almost missed this opportunity entirely. I had planned to stay home for the weekend and grind LeetCode for some upcoming Big Tech interviews 👀 But here's what I keep learning: it's always the events you almost skip that end up changing your whole life. This hackathon was different. Building at the intersection of AI and content creation...I'm genuinely convinced you'll see two or more of these projects become funded startups soon. If you're looking for project ideas, this space is wide open. Some highlights: ➤ Starred in Dennis Chen's Hackathon Series (sorry, we didn't win 😂) ➤ Finally met Julia Fedorin and Tim Kubsch IRL: both absolute legends ➤ Drank 26+ kombuchas. They're definitely putting something in those. Thank you to the entire Stan team for having me. For the first time in a while, I genuinely don't know what comes next. And I'm okay with that. With love, Sammy ❤️ P.S. If you start seeing photos of me sleeping from various angles circulating on LinkedIn...that isn't me. 😭📸 #Stan #StanHackathon #Hackathon #AI #ContentCreation #CreatorEconomy #Startups #Entrepreneurship #BuildingInPublic #Tech

Now, they’re going all-in on Voice AI. Super proud to be on the front lines of this next chapter! I’ll be working closely with the growth team as a fellow to push the brand, create massive content, and show the world what this engine can do. (And who knows... maybe I end up shipping some ML features for the engineering team in the near future 👀) also...today is my birthday 🙃 Couldn't ask for a better start to my 20s. We drove 7 hours to New York City on a day's notice to attend the first-ever official invite-only Google Gemini 3 Hackathon and won... Is what I wish the headline of this post could be... Although we couldn't be judged for the main prizes in person at the Google x Cerebral Valley event (because Affan and I didn't want to make the drive just to find out we didn't win💀), we still built something insane. The Problem: Agents like Gemini 3 are the smartest models in the world, but they code "blindly." They don't have autonomous access to dev tools, console logs, or visual context. They say "Successfully deployed 🚀" while your frontend is actually crashing with 100 UI bugs. The Solution: ARGUS: Named after the all-seeing Greek Titan who never sleeps, it's the world's first self-healing website builder/cloner. It uses multi-modal vision to validate every pixel of your page. If a button is off or a script throws an error, Argus sees it and fixes it instantly...without you ever lifting a finger. In 2 minutes, it clones, personalizes, and rebrands the Apple website better than the expensive "vibe-coding" tools currently out there. The Stack: Brain: Google Gemini 3 & Anthropic's 4.5 Sonnet. Vision: Firecrawl & Playwright MCP. Speed: Groq (Free, fast fixes). Sandboxing: E2B (Secure live deployment). Database: MongoDB. Cerebral Valley, when are you coming to Toronto? 🇨🇦 There is so much talent here you are missing out on! Should I Deploy this? 👇 Type "Argus" in the comments and I'll give you first access for free. Full Demo: https://lnkd.in/g7RHVw8F The Code: https://lnkd.in/gqMGdeeA Gallery Submission: https://lnkd.in/g7greJXm P.S. If Argus goes live, the move is to apply to Boardy's Founder Program to handle all the fundraising, so I can focus on shipping code... #Google #Gemini3 #CerebralValley #Boardy #Artisan #DeepMind #Hackathon #AI #Software #Student

People keep telling me that I’m wasting my time learning a field that’s going to become obsolete in a few years. It’s almost 2026, and we’ve had some incredible breakthroughs in AI recently. But it takes being a developer using these tools every day to realize how far behind we actually are. ⟡ Context & Memory are still severely lacking ⟡ Flagship models still hallucinate ⟡ Complex topics still break these systems We have such a long way to go. Is Software Engineering and Computer Science dying? No. The number of software engineering jobs in 2025 actually grew. This is the single best time in history to become a coder. Go build something. ❤️ #AI #SoftwareEngineering #Developers #MachineLearning #TechCareers #FutureOfWork #Coding #Innovation

Gonna be real for a minute.

Gonna be real for a minute. Last week was rough. I was ready to step back for good. When you put yourself out there every week, you'll eventually attract more and more "noise". This week, the noise got loud. Too loud. There's the good, there's the bad, and then there's the people who just don't like you at all. To top it off (and this is something you won't hear publicly), the "hustle and grind" life? It can be an incredibly lonely road. I had a really low moment and started questioning... honestly, everything. "Maybe I should stop posting and just disappear for a bit." So, I took a step back and went through my LinkedIn DMs and relived them all. These are real DMs from real people over the past few months. Students. Founders. CEOs. VPs and Directors in Big-Tech. Engineers. Recruiters. Investors. Colleagues, mentors, and peers. A lot of people I've never met, and they still took time out of their day to reach out. I'm putting this collage here as my own reminder. A reminder of what's real and what's just... noise. The haters are loud. But this? This is so much louder. If you've been scared about posting your own thoughts, just block out the noise. This post is for you. If it means anything, I will personally support you all the way. You've got this. With love, Sammy ❤️ P.S: To every single person in these screenshots (and the hundreds more I couldn't fit): thank you.

I should be studying for my circuits midterm. Instead, I spent 20 hours making the ultimate 2025 list of free tools ONLY for students (Value: $4,300+). My criteria was simple: ✅ Not a 30-day trial. It's 100% free. ✅ No "credit card required" for most. ✅ You can start using these tools today. My 2DA4 grade might be in trouble, but hopefully, this list saves you thousands. Here it is: 🤖 Google Gemini Pro ($200/yr) Includes 2TB storage, Gemini 2.5 Pro suite, and premium AI features → free for verified students. https://lnkd.in/gCjxcGyJ 🎓 GitHub Student Developer Pack ($3,000+/yr) Includes Copilot Pro, JetBrains IDEs, and 50+ dev tools. https://lnkd.in/gpu6-SFq 🧠 Notion Plus with AI ($120/yr) My entire university life runs on this. You have a better shot at building a multi-million-dollar AI company as a complete beginner over a senior engineer with 20 years of experience. Think about every major YC-backed startup that's blown up in the last few months. Notice something? None of them were founded by senior devs who've been in software for decades. Two things you need to know that just happened in the news: 1) Meta's AI Chief Officer said: "The next billionaire is going to be a 13-year-old vibe coding." 2) A recent study found senior engineers were 19% LESS productive using AI tools. Every "seasoned" developer is trying to adapt to AI. But you? You’re being born into it. Experience is actually a curse. Seniors are applying outdated practices and principles to a brand-new technology, which is why they struggle to keep up. You're not tied to those old thinking patterns. Beginners see what experts can’t. Fresh eyes will build the impossible. Why do you think companies like Shopify are hiring thousands of interns? Because they know the students of today are going to rule the world of tomorrow. If you’re young and reading this, stop scrolling and go do this right now: ◆ Grab GitHub's Education Pack & Cursor Pro — It's completely free for students and would cost thousands for adults to get it. ◆ Go to ChatGPT and tell it everything. It’ll teach, guide, and challenge you better than most people ever will. Then, lock yourself in a room, and ask it every question you can think of. ◆ Meet one new builder this week. The easiest way is to DM Boardy and ask it to connect you with someone who’s working on some really cool ideas. ◆ Make something small this weekend and tag me. A game, an MVP, a small tool, ANYTHING. If I like it, I’ll spotlight it on my LinkedIn (I get 150k views a week). There are no more excuses. You have something senior engineers would pay millions to get back. Stop putting limits on yourself. Get out there and build something. With love, Sammy ❤️ The LEGENDS in the photo 💪: Anson Lin, Dennis Chen, Willem Zhang, Andrew Song, Wesley Guzman, Luca Pascuzzi, Sujan Ravi #AI #youth #students #ArtificialIntelligence #Innovation #Startups #Entrepreneurship #Technology #Future #GenerativeAI2025

Last year, I applied to over 400 internships. This year, I'm only applying to 10... Here's an uncomfortable truth: Mass applying doesn't make you look hardworking. It makes you look desperate. And desperation is the WORST thing you can communicate to an employer. It felt good applying for so many internships...But here's what actually happened: • Every application I made was generic • I had no time to actually get GOOD at anything • I was competing with 1,000 other people doing the exact same thing as me • I became forgettable This year, I'm doing something completely different — and I'm not gatekeeping a single thing. Here's what I'm doing for each of my 10 target companies: 💡✅ I'm spending 15 hours (minimum) studying each company's actual problems — not their careers page; their GitHub issues, LinkedIn posts, and product gaps. 💡✅ I'm going to build something for them before applying. A design mockup. A code solution. A market analysis. Something that proves I already think like someone on their team. 💡✅ I'm going to use Boardy to reach out to 5–7 people at each company; not to "network", but to see if I'd actually even fit there. Last year, I got 8 interviews from 400 applications (2% hit rate). This year, I've only had 4 coffee chats with people at target companies — and 2 have already offered to walk my application directly to hiring managers. Stop spraying and praying, people. Start building in public. Start acting like someone who belongs there...not someone scratching to get in. The internship you want doesn’t go to the person who applied first. It goes to the person they can’t imagine NOT hiring. #Internships #CareerAdvice #Boardy #JobSearch #SoftwareEngineering #BuildInPublic #Networking #Motivation #EarlyCareer

Every big opportunity I’ve landed started with one single conversation, one person who said "yes". That’s what makes Boardy so special. They hardly need an introduction — but if you haven’t heard of them, they’re the best AI super-connector out there, and one of the fastest-growing startups in Toronto. I’ve never had an Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter account. And I don't plan on making one anytime soon... 10 months ago, I made my first post on LinkedIn. Yesterday, a notification popped up on my phone: "Here's a recap of your Impressions." Over 500,000 views... in two months. I'm not a marketing expert. I don't have the secret formula. I just showed up. Once every two weeks. That's it. Out of the 1 billion people who use LinkedIn, less than 5% of users actually post. The other 95% just scroll. Which means the competition is basically non-existent. Stop making excuses and just post something. Anything. Literally anything... And if your post doesn't do well, make another one... Last year, I had zero reach. Zero credibility. Now? Opportunities I never even imagined are landing in my inbox. Posting on LinkedIn changed my life. It can change yours too. Cheers ❤️

We built the next level of Neural Interfacing at Canada's biggest Hackathon — no screens, no voice, just your mind: This weekend at Hack the North was unreal. I helped break a Guinness World Record, met incredible folks like jeff nguyen and Amjad Masad, and pitched to Shopify, Y Combinator, Coinbase, Ollama, Snap Inc., Cohere, and more. 🧠 What we built (in plain English): Seenapse redefines human-computer interaction by replacing screens and voice with neural input your brain/body already produces. 🕶️ Using the Neurosity Crown (EEG) + Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, a blink or quick jaw clench can: • Snap a photo hands-free • Send your live location to contacts (SOS) • Trigger a text or call instantly • Execute personalized automations (Lights, music, apps) And when your brain signals show stress or low mood, Seenapse auto-runs routines — like playing your Calm playlist — to help you reset. 🙏 Massive thanks to my insanely talented teammates — building with you was a blast - Jocelyn Anahid Velarde Barrón, Nearhos Hatzinikolaou, Vetrivel Balaji!!!! 💙 And much love to Hack the North and all the sponsors for a weekend I'll never forget. My Internship at AtkinsRéalis is over... You don’t realize how much you’ve grown until you look back at the version of yourself who walked in on Day 1. I still remember my first day like it was yesterday—walking into the office felt like I had stepped onto a movie set. Rows of cubicles, everyone hard at work, it felt surreal. ✨ As one of the youngest interns this summer, I: • Drove collaboration across 6+ cross-functional teams (Reactor Components, Tooling, Commercial, Procurement, QA) • Delivered 100+ executive-ready deliverables to SNN, advancing execution of the $3B Cernavoda C1 refurbishment • Co-led bi-weekly stakeholder meetings with global partners across multiple project scopes • Led company-wide AI adoption initiatives through workshops, presentations, research, and strategic decision-making Everyone always says, “The team feels like family.” But this team... REALLY felt like family. 🙏 Ginny Ly, Tamer Ghalil, and Brian Smith — you were the best mentors and managers I could’ve asked for. 👥 Ifrah Iqbal, Lavinia Banica, and Ayush Banerjee — we toured the office together on Day 1 and are now lifelong friends (among many others...). I blinked, and the summer is gone... One of the best experiences of my life — and one I’ll never forget. I paid $200 for LinkedIn Recruiter Lite, so you don't have to. Here's how you can actually land jobs — and get recruiters to see you: I spent a week living inside Recruiter Lite. I rebuilt my profile around what I saw worked — and these six simple switches led to higher ranks, more views, and more DMs: 🔒 1) You’re invisible outside 3rd-degree connections Outside their network, recruiters only see your headline and location — no About, Skills, or Experience. ✅ Fix: Connect with interns, alumni, and early-career engineers at target companies. 🚨 2) Trigger the “Interested in Company” Spotlight Recruiters use a built-in "Spotlight" feature, bringing candidates to the top who follow and engage with their company. ✅ Fix: Follow target companies and leave thoughtful comments on recent posts to bump your rank. 🧬 3) Recruiters use “Find similar candidates” Using ML Algorithms, Lite recommends profiles similar to past hires based on titles, skills, and education. ✅ Fix: Study successful interns; mirror their keywords, experience, and structure. ⏰ 4) Monday visibility boost Recruiters get "saved search alerts" on Mondays. “Fresh” profiles appear first. ✅ Fix: Update your profile's skills, projects, etc. Sunday night or Monday morning to show up in the alerts first. 🎯 5) Small settings knock you out No relocation set? You're excluded from non-local searches (This is massive). Vague titles in your Bio? You will be skipped. ✅ Fix: Enable relocation in your LinkedIn profile; use exact titles for positions you want in your "About" (Ex: SWE Intern, Backend Intern, ML Intern). 🚫 6. If you're hidden once, you're gone forever Recruiters can hide profiles—and once they do, you won’t show up for that role again. ✅ Fix: Keep your profile clear and focused. If it doesn’t match the role at a glance, you’ll get skipped (and filtered out permanently). If you want to land interviews without cold messaging 100s of recruiters weekly, this is how you start. 💬 Want my Full Recruiter Lite checklist template? Comment “CHECKLIST” and I’ll send it over. #LinkedInHacks #TechCareers #JobSearchTips #InternshipTips #HiddenJobMarket #AIRecruiting #EarlyCareer #ResumeTips #internships #recruiting #jobsearch #SWE #students

Amazon gave me early access to Kiro — their Cursor killer. It’s a game changer for vibe coding. Here's what you need to know: I’m fully convinced Vibe Coding is the future — and that “English” will soon become the next mainstream programming language. For the past 6 months, I’ve been vibing hard — testing every new AI dev tool that drops: Lovable, Bolt, Windsurf, Cline, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Gemini CLI... I’m always first in line to try them out. That’s why, after just one week with Kiro, I’m convinced it’s the best tool out there — and it’s all because of one feature that feels stupidly obvious: 🧠 Spec-Driven Development The challenge with vibe coding today is that powerful models like Claude spend a huge chunk of their resources just interpreting your prompt and understanding context — instead of focusing solely on building. In fact, we, on average, only utilize about 70% of these models’ true potential. That’s where Kiro’s Spec feature comes in. When you ask Claude something, it doesn’t jump straight to writing code. Instead, it first scans your entire project, scopes the tasks, and plans the solution — just like a senior dev mapping out a pull request before typing a single line. Now, combine this planning-first approach with an integrated MCP server, and you get a fully capable AI IDE that can: ➤ Automatically install the tools you need — Git utilities, CLI helpers, build systems, linters, formatters ➤ Research APIs, libraries, and tricky edge cases on the fly (think: Perplexity built into your IDE) ➤ Spin up custom dev environments tailored to your project Due to massive demand, Kiro is now on a waitlist, but you can join it here: kiro.dev Huge thanks to Amazon for the early access! P.S. — Even if you can't use Kiro right now...are you Vibe Coding??? You should be... #VibeCoding #Kiro #ArtificialIntelligence #Programming #TechInnovation #Productivity #Coding #AI #FutureOfWork #TechTrends

85%. That was the number drilled into our heads. What a waste... For the last 4 years, if you wanted to get into Software or Computer Engineering at McMaster, you needed an 11/12 GPA: an 85% average. No exceptions. So we worked. Brutally hard. They took away our calculators, removed our formula sheets, made the exams harder, rewrote the curriculum...we still kept up. All-nighters. Sacrificed weekends. Cut corners on friendships and health. All to be above 90%, just to feel “safe.” And this year? 7.8/12. That’s barely over 70%. Why so low this year? Almost Everyone Failed. Lesser Demand. Who knows... It’s hard to put into words how demoralizing that is. They told us marks were everything. That getting to the top was the only way to matter. That doors only opened if you had the highest GPA. They lied: My grades never got me the job. Never got me the opportunities. Never did a thing for me. My ability to connect with people did. MY projects did. MY mindset did. MY skills did. Not once in any of my interviews did I say “I’m an A+ student.” Because that’s the last thing I identify with. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished and who I’ve become, but I can’t lie...it still stings knowing how unnecessary the suffering was. To everyone who’s still grinding for a number: don’t do it. Just remember...you’re worth way more than your GPA. #EngineeringLife #RealTalk #McMasterUniversity #StudentMentalHealth

The world’s top AI conference basically said, “Enough with the AI overload.” Of all the founders, venture capitalists, and tech leaders who took the stage, my favourite speaker was, by far, Wesley Chan, A unicorn investor who gave Canva their first cheque. He was asked, "What makes an early startup in this new AI-Era a true winner that you invest in?" and he answered on the spot: “AI is over-hyped. Too many founders focus on the software and forget the basics: 1️⃣ What is the problem? 2️⃣ Is the problem high in demand? 3️⃣ What is your unique solution to the problem? He compared today’s AI frenzy to the app-development boom in 2014, when tech companies hired mobile engineers for half a million...a huge spike, followed by a quick drop. "Canva proves my point: it launched with zero AI. It took off because anyone could use it to design in seconds. AI came later, only to erase more friction." His closing reminder: a good product removes pain; AI should support that goal, not be the headline. That lesson hit the hardest for me, so I’m passing it along. Do you think AI is "overhyped"??? #WebSummit #AI #Startups #Innovation #VentureCapital

Didn’t even make it to baggage claim in Vancouver, I checked my phone... first email: “Y Combinator is flying you to San Francisco.” I've never been to the U.S., so to say that my first visit will be a YC-all-paid-for flight to sit in the same room as Elon Musk, Satya Nadella, and Sam Altman, with thousands of hand-picked students... is just unreal. Insanely grateful to be part of something this big, and even more thankful for the people who helped make it happen. #YCombinator #TechLeadership #StartupLife #AICommunity #Innovation

Yea... Software Engineering might be over. Waterloo's 2025 admissions prove it. In grade 12, I told my Vice Principal I wanted Software Engineering at the University of Waterloo. She showed me an article — I won’t explain it, just read the title: 📄 "He had 99.5% but still couldn’t get in." This was her way of saying: “Reach for the stars, but have a backup plan.” While exact figures aren't publicly disclosed yet, reports indicate a 10% drop in applications to Software & Computer Engineering at Waterloo for 2025. This marks the first time we're seeing AI create real "fear" in the next generation. 📉 Half of all software jobs have vanished in the past decade — and that number’s only going up. Good news for great engineers. Bad news for everyone else. Why? Ever heard of “a dime a dozen”? For every 1 solid developer, there are 99 bad ones. AI’s just cleaning house. 🎓 Anyways, if you’re a high schooler reading this, contrary to the title of this article, here are 3 reasons why Software Engineering is still the best program to get into in 2025: (And for the record — I had the chance to pick any specialty from a general eng program this year... I’m still choosing software.) 1️⃣ Who says you have to be a software engineer? Tech sales, project management, AI consulting, Data Analytics— all booming fields rooted in software. None of them require you to be a hardcore developer, yet, a software background will give you major leverage. 2️⃣ In the next 5 years, everything will be codified. Industries you thought AI could never touch are already shifting. Sure, some software jobs are disappearing — but the people building those “job-taking” algorithms? OpenAI pays its top AI/ML engineers close to $1M. Beyond the pay, companies will need AI Engineers more than ever. 3️⃣ It’s still one of the most powerful undergrad degrees. The quote that made me switch from business to engineering last minute: “Any engineer can do business. But no businessperson can do engineering.” If you’re spending 4 years on an undergrad degree, why not pick the one that opens the most doors? Good luck to all of you — and if any high schoolers have questions, feel free to DM me anytime. #WaterlooEngineering #SoftwareEngineering #AI #FutureOfWork #EngineeringEducation #TechCareers #OpenAI #STEM

I’m joining AtkinsRéalis this summer as a Project Management Intern, supporting nuclear engineering infrastructure across Canada. Where do I even begin... I’ve held off on posting for a while — partly out of superstition, partly to just enjoy the moment — but after some tough decisions about my future, strengths, and passions, I’m excited to finally confirm my internship at Atkins. After interviewing at companies like BMO, Scotiabank, NRC, Kepler, and Cohere — plus hundreds of cold emails, nonstop LinkedIn networking, and back-to-back coffee chats ☕☕☕ — the search is finally over. No regrets though; the people I’ve met along the way made every second worth it. I had to make some tough calls and turn down incredible opportunities — but deep down, I know this is where I’m meant to be. Here’s a story I wasn’t planning to share: After reaching the final round at BMO and getting rejected, I felt like I wasn’t good enough. A few hours later, I got an email: "The AtkinsRéalis panel would like to meet you for an interview." I’ve always hated the phrase “rejection is just redirection” — but that day, it hit harder than ever. 2025 job hunting has been brutal. I’ve never seen the market this competitive. And as a first-year, breaking the stereotype that we lack the skills or passion to intern? That’s been a challenge in itself. But honestly — I’ve grown more in the past few months than I ever thought possible. 🧠 The best advice I’ve received: My new friend Chris Gagne @Microsoft said it best — “Differentiate yourself by building a brand and story behind your name.” ----------------------------------- 🔎 More about the internship: 🔹 I’ll be supporting CANDU® nuclear engineering technology ⚛️ — some of the most advanced and globally impactful infrastructure initiatives in clean energy. I’ll work closely with senior engineers and project managers to coordinate technical teams, manage deliverables, and contribute to the planning and execution of large-scale, safety-critical systems powering communities across Canada and beyond. A huge thanks to George Salib for the mentorship and support — and to Andre Correia & Ginny Ly for making this journey possible 🙏 More updates to come soon — and on a side note, thank you all for the support💙 #AtkinsRealis #EngineeringInternship #CleanEnergy #CANDU #CareerGrowth #InternshipJourney #NuclearEngineering #NewJob #ProjectManagement

Well...There Goes Another Engineering Project at McMaster... Another engineering project in the books! 📚⚙️ This term, my team and I tackled one of the biggest environmental and public health challenges: antibiotic contamination in wastewater. Specifically, we designed a filtration system for ciprofloxacin removal at a hospital wastewater treatment plant in Byron Bay, Australia. 🌊🏥 The Problem? Ciprofloxacin, a widely used antibiotic, doesn’t break down easily in water. It seeps into natural ecosystems, accelerates antibiotic resistance 🦠, and poses serious health risks. The existing filtration methods? Not cutting it. Australia’s strict regulations demand ciprofloxacin levels be below 0.4 μg/L, and hospitals need a cost-effective, energy-efficient, and sustainable solution. Our Solution: A Polyester-Based Filtration System After extensive material selection, eco-audits, and porosity calculations, we landed on polyester as the optimal filtration material. Here’s why: ✅ Best Cost-Effectiveness – 40% cheaper than alternatives like CFRP. 💰 ✅ Sustainability Win – Lowest CO2 footprint, 10x lower than CFRP. 🌱 ✅ Performance Approved – Can capture 5–10 μm contaminants while maintaining structural integrity. 💪 ✅ Modular & Adaptable – Designed for easy installation, replacement, and maintenance. 🔄 Challenges & Takeaways From balancing cost, efficiency, and sustainability to making sure our filter meets regulations, this project was a crash course in real-world engineering problem-solving. We had to justify every decision, fine-tune our calculations, and iterate on designs—because in engineering, good enough is never good enough. The Tech Behind It 🔬 This project wasn’t just about picking the right material—it required data-driven engineering: 🟡 Material Performance Indices (MPIs) – To compare cost, strength, and durability. 🟡 Porosity Calculations – Ensuring the right pore size for effective filtration. 🟡 Eco-Audit Analysis – Evaluating the carbon footprint and sustainability of each material. 🟡 Finite Element Analysis (FEA) – Testing structural integrity under real-world conditions. What’s Next? 🚀 While our design checks all the boxes, future improvements could include real-time monitoring systems and advanced filtration techniques to boost efficiency even further. Special Thanks: Carter Geens, Briana Cha, Maia Antolic For now, another McMaster engineering project down—many more to go! 🔥 #Engineering #McMaster #Sustainability #WastewaterTreatment #STEM #FutureTech #Innovation #EngineeringSolutions #CleanWater

Certifications don't just look good—they open doors. Here's my story: "70% of employers prioritize certifications. 91% of certified professionals feel unstoppable. 77% of certified candidates innovate better." 📊 IDC Infobrief, June 2024 | Pearson VUE Candidate Report, 2023 These are the first stats you see on the Microsoft Learn website—right before choosing from free courses, programs, and modules. Some people say certifications don't matter. "Just do a personal project instead—it's way better." To some extent, I agree. But if that were true, wouldn't every student, employer, and leader be doing hundreds of personal projects? That's not the case. Personal projects are tough. Finding the right idea can take weeks, even months. And when you're working solo, motivation can run dry fast. So instead, why not invest in fundamentals—learning skills that: ✅ Help with future innovation and projects ✅ Look great on your LinkedIn ✅ Boost your credibility Here's how I completed 80+ Microsoft modules in 6 months as a Student Ambassador—and what it takes to learn while leading: Learn Strategically, Not Obsessively: Certifications are tools, not trophies. I aligned each credential with a skill gap—Azure AI for automation, DevOps for workflow design. 💡 Pro Tip: Use Microsoft Learn's "role-based" paths. Study for the job you want, not the one you have. Leverage the Ambassador Network: Mentorship isn't a perk—it's a force multiplier. My mentor cut my Azure Architect prep time by 30% by sharing battle-tested frameworks. Now, as a mentor myself, I follow one rule: "Ask better questions." Most certification roadblocks stem from unclear problems, not weak skills. Time ≠ Effort: I earned the AI-900 in 12 hours (thanks to hands-on labs). The DP-100 took 3 weeks. The difference? Applied learning beats passive studying. ⏳ Block 90-minute "sprints" for certifications. Treat them like coding challenges: solve, test, iterate. Proof That This Works: 📩 In the last month, three people have reached out via email/LinkedIn after seeing my work at Microsoft. 💼 Currently, I'm in talks with a company about a possible internship or part-time role as an AI consultant—helping them strategically integrate AI into their business model. And I'm only a first-year student. My take? Certifications and leadership aren't about impressing others. They're about outpacing your former self. Keep hustling, and reach out if you have any questions. #MicrosoftAmbassador #CloudCertified #TechLeadership #Azure #Microsoft #Engineering #AI

I've spoken with a dozen different Directors, CEOs, and Presidents in previous weeks, but one conversation stood out the most: "We're building AI to outthink us. The real problem? Getting humans to trust it." - Denisse Rodriguez, Director of AI at Scotiabank. That was our main discussion for over 20 minutes, Technology is always evolving—today it's AI, tomorrow who knows what? Yet, one thing remains constant: the need for authenticity, trust, and strategic leadership. The next revolution in AI isn't just about technical advancements; it will be psychological. With breakthroughs like: - China's DeepSeek R1 vs. the $500B+ Stargate AI Project - OpenAI's Operator and o3 model - Meta’s "Cicero 2.0" Diplomatic Agent - Tesla Optimus v3: Full Factory Autonomy - IBM Quantum Synapse Breakthrough we're nearing AGI—machines that think and reason like us. And yes... building advanced technology is tough, but the true hurdle is maintaining human trust. Consider these examples where AI could backfire catastrophically: 1) Banks: Leaking your financial secrets. 2) Hospitals: Misdiagnosing your pain. 3) Counseling: Replacing human care with code. The pattern? Industries where: Ethics > Efficiency Empathy > Automation Human judgment > Algorithmic logic We've already seen software do some pretty harmful stuff. AI won't just repeat these mistakes—it'll supercharge them. This isn't a problem you fix with a software update—it'll take years of deliberate work. And that's okay. Rushing risks chaos. #ArtificialIntelligence #AIEthics #TrustInTech #Innovation #TechTrends #AGI #FutureOfAI #DigitalTransformation #Leadership #HumanCenteredAI

Artificial Intelligence is the most misunderstood concept in the world right now... I'm still buzzed from the incredible experience at DeltaHacks 2025, and I have to share my thoughts: From powerhouse speakers like Ivan Zhang, CFO @Cohere, and Tanmay Bakshi, Leader @IBM, to sponsors like Apple, Cohere.ai, Procter & Gamble, AMD, Perplexity.ai, and Manulife, this event was one-of-a-kind 🧠. Shout out to my team—Adam, Aiden, Kush, and me—we built something we believe will revolutionize accessibility and make real change 🚀. The details? We don't want to reveal yet. But trust me, it's a game-changer. With only 2 hours of sleep over the whole weekend, the experience was intense, but the lessons learned were priceless, and I'll share them with you: Machine learning is the real powerhouse behind AI—and its potential goes far beyond the buzz. Thanks to open-source tools that literally anyone can access from OpenAI, we were able to tap into 40+ APIs for our project, enabling even the first-time developers on our team to contribute to something extraordinary. As the main sponsor, Perplexity gave participants access to their Pro subscription powered by OpenAI's 1O model (worth $200/month!), and it was nothing short of mind-blowing 🤯. Literally anyone—and I mean anyone—can now create solutions that once required consultants, experts, full-stack developers, and significant funding, all in just a few hours. All it takes is the motivation to dive into the tech and apply it effectively 💻✨. Want to take your skills, passion, and understanding of technology to the next level? Do a hackathon. Now... back to schoolwork. 😅 #DeltaHacks #Innovation #MachineLearning #Hackathon #OpenAI #Engineering #Sponsors #McMaster

    Read the post
As someone who just finished their first Semester at one of Canada's top engineering schools, here are my raw thoughts: 1️⃣ Engineering is the Same Everywhere. No matter which Canadian university you attend, the engineering experience in the first year is basically the same. I stay in touch with friends in Track One at U of T, CE/SE at Waterloo, McGill, and Western/Ivey. The truth? We're all suffering the same. Engineering education in Canada is standardized. I've written exams from other schools and passed with flying colours. Some assume schools like McMaster are easier than Waterloo or U of T. The kids who thought that...failed. Engineering is tough everywhere—thinking otherwise will set you up for disaster. 2️⃣ The Fight for Competitive Streams in a General Eng Program Is Brutal. McMaster's general first-year program offers "free choice" to students with exceptionally well high-school grades, guaranteeing their top-choice stream. I think this system sucks. No, I'm not bitter—my worst mark this Semester was an A (85–90%). The problem is inflated and inconsistent high school grades in Canada. A 95% at one school might be an 85% at another, but most universities (except Waterloo) don't account for this. As a result, a 97% student in high school might be a 60% student in first-year engineering, while an 84% first-year student misses their top program because the cutoff was 85%. So... If you're choosing between a specialized program at a less competitive school and a general first-year at a top-tier university, go with the latter. I am saving you unnecessary stress, all-nighters, and eventual burnout come finals. 3️⃣ C's Get Degrees—Just Don't Fail Wanna know the difference between a 75% and 90% average student in first-year eng? The 75% average student has better mental health, school-life balance, and a more positive overall experience in post-secondary. Unless you're aiming for grad school @ an Ivy League or a scholarship, the extra effort for top marks often isn't worth it. In engineering, consistency matters more than natural talent. I've seen genius students let one bad exam derail them. It's not about how well you perform but how you perform after repeatedly getting beat up. 4️⃣ Don't Skip Lectures. Ever Yes, you can probably learn better on your own through YouTube since your professor might not teach the material well, but don't skip lectures (speaking from someone who tried it this Semester and regrets it). People might tell you that the first year is just a recap of Grade 12 material—it's not. Even if you took IB or AP, you won't be fully prepared for how quickly concepts are covered. Missing lectures makes catching up nearly impossible. Seniors will tell you that a slightly worse learning experience in class is better than cramming ten missed lectures later. If you're about to start your engineering journey, don't worry—you've got this. You will be fine. #engineering #mcmaster #firstyear #stem #university

A project's success isn't just about technical skills—it's about the people behind it... Collaboration isn't always easy—it means navigating differences, managing setbacks, and ensuring everyone's voice is heard. However, through this experience, I've learned that collaboration in the STEM world is more than just dividing tasks—it's about combining diverse expertise to solve complex problems. Working with Mahnoor Naveed, Shubh Patel, Aliyah Shaw, and Kester Tang taught me the actual value of teamwork in Engineering. Wether it be problem-solving, design, coding, or testing, together, we created something far greater than what any of us could have achieved alone. Proud of you, Team.🙌👏
