I accept every single person who sends me a connection request, and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Here's why:
You know that weird profile that tried connecting with you? Less than 50 connections, no profile pic, looks super sketchy? That was probably me... less than a year ago.
I see so many people on LinkedIn aiming for the numbers, only caring about connecting with the "right people" to boost their algorithm. And yeah, most people will tell you to only make "high-quality connections."
But who said I was doing any of this for the numbers?
I started off only wanting to differentiate myself as an engineer in this tough job market...
If I could press a button where I kept all the benefits of everything LinkedIn has done for me, yet got little to no views, I'd press that button.
Every single person who messages me, I almost always respond. (Speechify voice typing makes it very easy 🙃) Sorry to the few I may have missed—reach out again.
Every single person who asks for help, I try to be there...
Because I was that guy going around asking for advice, too. And the people who helped me back then? I will remember them for the rest of my life.
It may have only been 15 minutes for them. But for me, those 15 minutes changed everything.
Some of my most rewarding moments have come from the idea that my posts made someone think differently...or just put them on a better path. To me, that's the biggest win I can get.
Shoutout to Areeb for being just a cool guy. Love to the whole Speechify team, thanks for dinner... sorry to Mix2Grill for ordering over 20 ice creams. We are definitely banned from future visits.
